MISSION: To unite the world through the sharing of cultures, ideas, and education.
MANOS INTERNACIONAL
Today, this center is run with the volunteerism of
locals Cecilia Lopez and Zenaido Moreno. Volunteers
from the U.S. and across the globe visit to hosts
Summer Camps, cultural exchanges, and weekly
English classes and activities as scheduled in our
program year.
Manos Internacional began as an idea in 2001,
when a group of volunteers visited Mexico to
make a donation drop. It was here, that these
volunteers realized that education is the key to
progression.
The idea of hosting classes in a bricklaying yard
transformed into the reality of donated building
material and supplies for a community center.
Members of this border town community reached
out with shovel in hand to lay the ground that
would give their children opportunities in English
Classes and activities that could make the future
a little brighter.
The community center was built in November 2002
by members of the community itself. In January
2003, the first session of Manos activities began.
